After all, life isn't a scene from the movies, is it? But then, through a misted-up bus window one freezing day, she sees a man she knows instantly is the one. Their eyes meet, there's a moment of pure magic...and then her bus drives away.</i></span></span></p><span style="font-family: verdana;"><div style="text-align: center;"><i><span style="background-color: white; color: #333333;">Laurie thinks she'll never see the boy from the bus again. But at a party later that year, her best friend Sarah introduces her to the new love of her life. Who is, of course, the boy from the bus.</span></i></div><div style="font-style: italic; text-align: center;"><span style="color: #333333;"><br /></span></div><span style="background-color: white; color: #333333;"><div style="font-style: italic; text-align: center;"><i style="background-color: transparent;">Determined to let him go, Laurie gets on with her life. But what if fate has other plans?"</i></div><div style="font-style: italic; text-align: center;"><i style="background-color: transparent;"><br /></i></div><div style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-style: italic; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4zCZ7z8BcGrTX4Ntg8v08YGcmm4k3O76a9g0d1h6IXNeUMAMJV4gtVttjb_kFJzo3zWIqU_Hdwm8FElhc2VINQxhqs57zA1PGIvdWJUkVtT9MA87uJEG6ByUG6oOUJLo04BnmQYjdE1o/s499/41BwepDfY0L._SX324_BO1%252C204%252C203%252C200_.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="499" data-original-width="326" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4zCZ7z8BcGrTX4Ntg8v08YGcmm4k3O76a9g0d1h6IXNeUMAMJV4gtVttjb_kFJzo3zWIqU_Hdwm8FElhc2VINQxhqs57zA1PGIvdWJUkVtT9MA87uJEG6ByUG6oOUJLo04BnmQYjdE1o/s320/41BwepDfY0L._SX324_BO1%252C204%252C203%252C200_.jpg" /></a></div><br />Secret Santa bought me this book for Christmas in 2018 and I'm ashamed to say it's taken me this long to read it! My excuse - I wanted to read it in December because of the title and I finally got round to it in December 2020. Boy, was it worth the wait! I really should have known with a testimonial on the front cover from Marian Keyes!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I was hooked from the very first chapter and then devoured the remainder of the book as quickly as possible - my other half laughing at me as I wandered round the house and attempted to cook dinner with my nose in this book!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I love a pure movie-style fairytale romance and the first chapter of this book gives you hope for that when Laurie and Jack's eyes meet through a misted up bus window, however, the wheels very quickly come off the bus. I genuinely couldn't work out how the story was going to pan out given the situation as someone was clearly going to get hurt.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Sarah and Laurie are university age when we first meet them, however, the book spans ten years which is unusual. It allows the reader to really see the development of the characters through some crucial transition years from university into the real world. To fit ten years into a book, of course, the story jumps on at various points but it doesn't ever feel disjointed and it is an incredibly impressive debut book from Josie Silver. I will most certainly be getting myself a copy of Josie Silver's second book, <i>The Two Lives of Lydia Bird</i>.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I laughed and I cried. I was torn as to how I wanted it to end. But when it does end....it's wonderful. Highly recommended and absolutely no need to read in December alone!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">You can buy <i>One Day in December</i> on Kindle and in paperback here (prices correct at time of writing):</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div></span></span><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe frameborder="0" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" scrolling="no" src="//ws-eu.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?ServiceVersion=20070822&OneJS=1&Operation=GetAdHtml&MarketPlace=GB&source=ac&ref=qf_sp_asin_til&ad_type=product_link&tracking_id=pukkaonlin-21&marketplace=amazon&region=GB&placement=B073W2WHXF&asins=B073W2WHXF&linkId=5547255157eda6c2f0fc3a14e6287ad2&show_border=false&link_opens_in_new_window=false&price_color=333333&title_color=0066c0&bg_color=ffffff" style="height: 240px; width: 120px;">

font-family: "Amazon Ember", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: italic; text-align: center;"><br /></div><span style="background-color: transparent;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">This debut book from James Bailey is an absolute breath of fresh air and I loved it. It's rare for me to actually laugh out loud at a book but, with this book, I did on multiple occasions!</span></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="background-color: transparent;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="background-color: transparent;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">I thought the story was just so different to other stories I've read; a seemingly bad decision to propose on NYE sends Josh on a different course as he makes the decision to flip a coin to see if this makes him make better decisions for the next year. His friends think he's crazy but will it pay off?</span></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="background-color: transparent;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">The characters in this book are great and they really do jump off the page and come to life. From Josh's friends and family all the way to Josh's pub quiz team's quiz enemies, they all brought something wonderful to the story. I can definitely see this being made into a film!</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">There's plenty of travel in the book too and great descriptions of places that Josh ends up visiting! </span><span style="font-family: verdana;">With Rome being my favourite city, I also loved that it ended up here!</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">Having finished the book, I've realised that it is actually quite unusual to have a romance told from the male perspective and this added an extra dimension. </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">This book isn't just funny, it's sad, thought-provoking, romantic, fairytale like and real all at the same time. The perfect book to curl up with this winter and escape the difficulties that 2020 has brought us!</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">It's really hard to believe this is a debut novel! James Bailey has a bright future and I, for one, can't wait to read more!</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><i>The Flip Side</i> is out now and available on Kindle here (prices correct at time of writing):</span></div></span><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div>

Tess has reason to believe the company is knowingly producing a potentially harmful drug and, if her suspicions are confirmed, she will stop at nothing to make sure the truth comes out.</span></div><div style="font-style: italic; text-align: center;"><span style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); color: #333333;"><br /></span></div><span style="background-color: white; caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); color: #333333; font-style: italic;"><div style="text-align: center;">Jim Knight is the president of research and development at Helix and is a force to be reckoned with. After a disastrous office affair he’s determined that nothing else will distract him from his vision for the company. Failure is simply not an option. </div></span><div style="font-style: italic; text-align: center;"><span style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); color: #333333;"><br /></span></div><span style="background-color: white; caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); color: #333333;"><div style="font-style: italic; text-align: center;">As Tess and Jim start working together, both have their reasons for wanting to ignore the sexual chemistry that fires between them. I was completely torn between Jess outing the truth for her family and her unexpected feelings for Jim, turning protective of him despite her investigations and her ultimate dilemma of being honest with him. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">As the book reached its conclusion, a massive part of me didn't want to read on as I could see the direction that Jess and Jim's relationship was going in and I felt caught up in Jess' dilemma but, at the same time, I couldn't bear to stop! It's an emotional rollercoaster of a book but I adored it.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Jim isn't just a looker, being the George Clooney of the industry, but he has good morals and an important part of storyline follows Jim trying to change the ethics of the industry. The reader sees the real man behind Jim, his relationship with his mother and the hurt he's experienced in the past. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">Jess is a strong women but with hidden insecurities and a huge passion for shoes. I enjoyed the story although I had so many questions along the way as to the detail of how they lured the conman in to their plan (this part of the story falls more into place than I had imagined). However, it's a good journey from Bath and Bristol to the French Riviera...</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I also loved the <span style="caret-color: rgb(34, 34, 34); color: #222222; text-align: left;">camaraderie</span> of the group that come together to bring the runaway groom to justice and the different relationships within that group. Let's just say I felt completely aggrieved for Maddie at certain points of the story which were just unfair; a sign I had really bonded with the characters and was living this book alongside them. I hated Liam with a passion (he's a real baddie) but I adored Bandit and the way Poppy takes to him from the very beginning. There are some other 'non-main' characters who also stand out and we get to see more of these in the follow up to this book, <i>House of Christmas Secrets</i> (which I adore).</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I loved the interaction with the past which is brought to life through the diary of a previous owner which is found and I loved watching that unravel and finding out how that links to the present and the future.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">This is a book filled with sparks and I was truly surprised to find out that this book was Lynda Stacey's debut book; it's incredibly good! <span style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: small;">For Clare O’Connell, home is where the heart aches…</span></span></h2>
<div>
<span style="font-style: italic; font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: small;"><br /></span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"></span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #333333;">Since the age of sixteen, Clare O'Connell has lived her life by four strict rules: </span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #333333;"></span></span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #333333;">1. Don't talk about Ireland </span></span></div>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #333333;">
</span><span style="background-color: white; color: #333333;"><div style="text-align: center;">
2. Don't think about Ireland</div>
</span><span style="background-color: white; color: #333333;"><div style="text-align: center;">
3. Don't go to Ireland</div>
</span><span style="background-color: white; color: #333333;"><div style="text-align: center;">
4. Don't let anyone in </div>
</span><div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); color: #333333;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333;"><div style="text-align: center;">
And so far, it's worked well. She's got a great career, amazing friends, and she's really happy. The future is all that counts, isn't it? </div>
</span><div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); color: #333333;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); color: #333333;"><div style="text-align: center;">
However Clare is about to realise that you can run from the past, but you can't always hide from it…</div>
</span><div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); color: #333333;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333;"><div style="text-align: center;">
When her boss insists she travels to Ireland for work, Clare finds herself drawn back to the village of Ballykielty – the home of her family, and the home of her secrets. The one place where vowed never to return to again… </div>
</span><div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); color: #333333;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333;"><div style="text-align: center;">
With the door to her past now wide open, the first three rules have gone out of the window. Will Clare stick to rule number four?</div>
</span><div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); color: #333333;"><b><br /></b></span></div>
<span style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); color: #333333;"><div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Can she be brave and face up to her family and the demons of her past?</b></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The fourth and final book in The Welcome to Whitsborough Bay series focuses on Clare who we've seen in the previous two books in the series. I wasn't sure about Clare in the previous books but she really becomes herself in her book. Whilst I knew Clare had a past that had affected her, I would never have guessed from the previous books what was coming in terms of Clare's back story.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It's almost impossible to write this review without giving things away. All I'll say is there are a lot of surprises in this book and I was completely torn as to what I wanted to happen!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is a very emotional book of family differences, friendship and facing your past!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The great thing about a series is you also get to catch up with other characters and this series is no exception; you also get to see a little more of Sarah and Elise (and Auntie Kay).</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I've very much enjoyed The Welcome to Whitsborough Bay and will definitely check out some more of Jessica Redland's books.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<i>Coming Home to Seashell Cottage</i> is out now and can be purchased here on Kindle or in paperback:</div>

The book is split into different parts and alternates between different points in time (now, 5 years ago and 15 years ago) and the reader hearing different sides of the unfolding story and past of the characters (Annabelle, Tabitha and Rick). This works well and I didn't find it confusing (unless I tried to read the book in short bursts as it's difficult to keep track); the story flows well and kept me wanting to know more.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">Most of the 'action' takes place in the final part of the book and some readers may find the early parts a little slower than they were hoping for; this is not a fast paced thriller but it is a good read. The early parts of the book really set the history of the characters and the disappearance of Tabby but the drama doesn't come for some time.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">I had no idea throughout the book what had happened to Tabby; I had a couple of theories but they didn't come close to the truth which I found out only as I saw the story unfold on the pages. I found the conclusion to be tied up and didn't leave me with any outstanding loose ends.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">There are also some serious underlying themes in this book surrounding mental health affecting more than one of the characters we encounter. A book of mystery, deceit, revenge and suspicion.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><i>Do Her No Harm</i> is out now on Kindle (free with Kindle Unlimited) and in paperback (prices correct at time of writing):</span></div><p style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51); color: #333333; margin: -4px 0px 14px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;"><br /></p>

<div style="text-align: center;">
This is the third book in the Welcome to Whitsborough Bay series and the focus of this book is Elise. This book does follow on from <i>New Beginnings at Seaside Blooms</i> and so you do get to revisit some old characters - in particular, Sarah and Claire. We also get to see Auntie Kay again which I loved.<br />
<br />
In the previous book, the focus is on Sarah who has spent her whole life dreaming of being married, whereas this book focuses on Elise who dreams of becoming a mum. <br />
<br />
I'm discovering that Jessica Redland is great at creating characters; the good and the bad! Elise's journey was a little unexpected to start with, however, I loved going on it and I adored the ending which, for me, was just perfect and just what I'd been longing for!<br />
<br />
A story of opening up about your past, being your true self and plain old fashioned romance. Another book of Jessica's which I read within 24 hours of starting it!<br />
<br />
<i>Finding Hope at Lighthouse Cove</i> is out now and can be purchased here on Kindle or in paperback (prices correct at the time of writing):<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I can't help but go on about how much I have come to love Sarah Bennett's writing and the characters, settings and stories that she gives to us! </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Having read these two series, </span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I've come to adore the pattern of the series Sarah creates - each book in the series having the same location, being linked to a different season of the year and focusing on one of three people covered by the series. The Butterfly Cove Series follows three sisters and The Lavender Bay Series follows three friends.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">As well as the three main characters, there is a huge array of other characters within each series and they really do feature in all the books </span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">regardless of whether it is "their" book so you get to really follow their journey fully and I absolutely love this!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The series have so many common threads, however, </span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Sarah is extremely talented as she still manages to make each series and each story completely unique and delightfully different in its own way. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I found them all to be highly emotional, I think because I was so connected with the characters and cried at various points throughout all of the books.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Sarah creates </span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">real fairytale stories and I think I read each series within a week because I just couldn't put them down!</span></div>

The characters in this book are larger than life; the villains (yes,
there's more than one baddy!) are particularly unpleasant and the heroes
are quite lovely.

<div style="text-align: center;">
I have to admit that my favourite part of the story was Ruby and her
66-year long love story which I loved seeing come to a conclusion.
This was the part for me that made me properly grin and brought a
tear to my eye.

<i>Making Wishes at Bay View</i> is the first in a four book
series (Welcome to Whitsborough Bay) and I'm going to be diving straight
into the next book, <i>New Beginnings at Seaside Blooms.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
This is a story which isn't just "chick lit"; it covers adoption and the
rejection / unwillingness to engage that comes with it, difficult family
relationships and tales of long lost loves!

<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; margin-bottom: 14px; margin-top: -4px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I got past this and generally I really enjoyed the story which I got into such that I needed to keep turning the pages. The location and the characters really came to life for me and I found it all very easy to visualise.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; margin-bottom: 14px; margin-top: -4px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The ultimate trajectory of Edie and Joe was fairly obvious from the beginning but it was a nice journey to watch them go on and there were other twists and turns, together with interesting characters, along the way to hold my interest.</span></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; margin-bottom: 14px; margin-top: -4px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">It is a story of loss, love, secrets, abusive relationships, and learning to share with one another.</span><br />

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><i>Snowflakes at Lavender Bay</i> is the third in the delicious Lavender Bay series. As always, it can be read alone but I'd strongly recommend the series and, of course, reading them in order.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The wonderful thing about the series is that each book focuses on a particular individual but you also get to revisit old characters and so you don't completely lose touch with the people you've come to love from previous books.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">This book follows Libby who I feel like we know quite well from the previous books; she felt like the most unique character to me from the beginning. Owen has also featured in each of the previous books in a much smaller role; I didn't warm to him previously but, by the end of this book, he had won me round! In fact, the start of <i>Snowflakes at Lavender Bay</i> goes slightly back in time as you get to learn a bit more about Owen's backstory and you revisit parts of the earlier books which you now see from a different perspective. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I loved Libby's dad the most and the journey he goes on in this book. He just loves Libby so much and it's adorable to see. Again, there is a fleeting mention of something with Libby's dad in one of the earlier books that only became clear and relevant in this storyline (I won't spoil it for you!). Hands down to Sarah for weaving these 3 books together in such an incredible way.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Beth, Sam, Eliza and Jack feature lots so you get to see more of them too which I love! I loved the part of this story which really integrated Owen into the friendship group which was Sam's new business venture.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">The whole book (and series in fact) was very emotional and I was also very sad to leave Lavender Bay behind but can't wait for Sarah to introduce me to her next location and characters!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><i>When Eliza Barnes said ‘I do’ to her husband all those years ago, she thought that they’d be together forever. Instead, he’s flown to Abu Dhabi to start a new life, and she’s returning to the little seaside town of Lavender Bay.</i></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 14px; margin-top: -4px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><i>It’s finally time to chase the dreams she’s put on hold for so long, whipping up luxury bath products and organic soaps using local ingredients. <div style="margin-bottom: 14px; margin-top: -4px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><i>So when her husband turns up, she knows she must decide between the man she knows everything about and the man who makes her heart race in ways she’d never imagined – before it’s too late…"</i></span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><i><br /></i></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><i><br /></i></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><i>Summer at Lavender Bay</i> is the second in the delicious Lavender Bay series. It can be read alone but I'd strongly recommend reading as a series. This book follows Eliza who we've learnt a little bit about from the first book; enough to know that she has lost her sparkle.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">In <i>Spring at Lavender Bay</i>, there is a fleeting mention of an incident with a red sports car and I remember wondering at the time what the significance to that was but never saw it unravel, however, all becomes clear in this book! I love the way Sarah Bennett has weaved the full story through all three of the books in the series.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">We also get to meet the family from the lavender farm, the reason the Bay has its name. It's exceptionally difficult to choose a favourite of the three books but I do think this might win it for me; I loved Jack, his relationship with his nephew, the support he gives Eliza and even his fiery nature. He might even just manage to give Eliza her sparkle back (for which I love him even more).</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">You also get to continue to learn about Beth and Sam whose story is covered by <i>Spring at Lavender Bay</i> which is a lovely bonus to the story in this book!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">There is no doubt about it, Sarah Bennett has become a new firm favourite of mine. Having adored her Butterfly Cove series, I took to Amazon to see what other series there are and I plumped for the Lavender Bay series.</span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 14px; margin-top: -4px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="color: #333333;"><span style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51);">This first instalment at Lavender Bay focuses on Beth who isn't particularly happy with her life in London. When she inherits Eleanor's Emporium which is an extremely special place for her, she only intends to stay until the end of the season but Lavender Bay works its magic on her and, a bit like the reader, she doesn't stand a chance.</span></span></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 14px; margin-top: -4px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="caret-color: rgb(51, 51, 51);">Once again, Sarah's characters, location and storyline are absolutely fabulous. As part of Beth's story, you meet her two best friends, Eliza and Libby which leads nicely onto the next two books in the series; one for each character. As with The Butterfly Cove Series, I leapt from one book straight into the next because I couldn't bear to wait for more than a few minutes (and I highly recommend you do the same!)</span></span><br />

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><i>A year after her father’s death Aria’s done everything she can to keep things afloat but the hotel has long been struggling to make a profit. With so few guests Aria risks losing the only home she’s ever had.</i></span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Jewel Island sounded like a place I would quite like to visit and would be great for anyone looking for an escape to the coast during lockdown.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I enjoyed the relationships between the characters in this book and I loved the way that Noah wanted not only Aria to be happy but her sisters too. Their relationship was inevitable with the clear chemistry between them but I felt for Noah and understood his predicament. I missed Aria's father who features in the very early parts of the book as his relationship with Aria was lovely to see. </span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">Look out for Mrs O'Hare too; she is fabulous.</span><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"> </span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I have to admit that I found there to be something a little bit annoying or repetitive about Aria and her "not good enough" attitude where she was sure that everyone was going to leave her because of her past as well.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">There is a second book in the series due to be released later this year called <i>Autumn Skies over Ruby Falls</i> and I would certainly consider reading this to revisit Jewel Island. I've really started to love the series of books that certain authors do which allow you to revisit characters at a later time (albeit that it isn't their main story) so you can get a glimpse of where they ended up.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">When I first started reading this book, I wondered how Miranda Dickinson was going to get a whole book out of someone receiving a parcel but WOW. It didn't take long for me to be drawn in and it is a storyline that I haven't come across before.</span></div>

I spent an obscene amount of the book speculating and debating with myself who the mystery sender of the parcels was going to be and whilst, when revealed, I had at one point in time thought fleetingly of this person, I had never been able to settle on who I was placing my bets on.</span></span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><i>It’s always been Emily Cotton’s dream to own her own bookshop. But sitting among shelves of haphazardly stacked books in a damp old barn, the reality feels a little different.</i></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><i>Kate Vincent hasn’t been back home in six years. But when she receives a desperate email from her childhood best friend begging for her help she doesn’t stop to think. Scenes of idyllic holidays with the Cotton family dance in her mind and she books a one-way ticket home to Wigtown.</i></span></div>
<div style="color: #333333; margin-bottom: 14px; margin-top: -4px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;">

Now as the pair work together to save Emily’s failing bookshop – can they too begin a new chapter of their friendship?"</i></span></div>

<div style="color: #333333; margin-top: -4px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">I loved this book. It made me smile (at times grin) and it made me cry. </span></div>
<div style="color: #333333; margin-top: -4px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="margin-top: -4px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="color: #333333;">I was a little hesitant to start with but I was soon drawn in by the characters and the storyline and, shortly after that, I was hooked. At times, I found it really hard to put down. Each of the characters in this book really goes on a journey<i> </i>and comes out the other side as a slightly different person.</span></span></div>
<div style="margin-top: -4px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;">

<i style="color: #333333; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The Bookshop of New Beginnings </i><span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="color: #333333;">is a story of love at first sight, heartbreak, jealousy, running away, true friendship, sibling rivalry and love, soulmates, lies and loss.</span></span></div>
<div style="margin-top: -4px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="color: #333333;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="margin-top: -4px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="color: #333333;">The book is set in Scotland; there are a few descriptions of this but I wouldn't say the location is particularly prominent. However, the writing is descriptive and I could easily picture the bookshop, Bluebell Bank and the characters.</span></span></div>
<div style="color: #333333; margin-top: -4px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="margin-top: -4px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="color: #333333;">Whilst I would happily have read more, the ending was a delight and felt completely wrapped up. I was glad to be left without any loose ends.</span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="color: #333333;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="margin-top: -4px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;"><span style="color: #333333;">A wonderfully heart-warming story that would be a perfect summer read.</span></span></div>
